It was our last week for summer camp 2016, but our time in Grand Rapids (Misipawistik Cree Nation) was wonderful. It was a chance to renew relationships from our ongoing Kids’ Clubs and Youth Group held in this community year-round.
The weather did not really co-operate and we had to spend a great deal of time in the school, but we are so thankful that the school was available this summer as we were not able to use it in 2015. We averaged 62 children/day, which is a big jump from 2015 and which can be quite a challenge, particularly feeding everyone in the narrow school hallways. A big thanks to Elaine for her hard work in the kitchen!
From chapel times to sports, crafts, and speedstacking, the week ran smoothly. There was lots of enthusiasm and a lot of smiles. One challenge of the week was to rescue an exhausted and frightened bat from a gym full of screaming children, but we set him free! 🙂
Thanks to all who assisted us in our arrangements – Kathie, Alice, Annie – and thanks to Misipawistik Cree Nation for your continuing support. We love your kids!
And congratulations to our “Campers of the Week,” Neepin and Terry; our Speedstack champions CJ and Keisha, and our Memory Verse pro, Allyssa.
